LECTURES
Week 1 (29/08/2023)
In the first week, we only had a briefing on what to expect in this module as Ms. Hayati also gave us the weekly progression sheet for our module so that we can track our progress. We were also been introduced to our first task, "Task 1: Draft Dissertation". In this week too, we were told to copy paste our previous research from DRM module to the draft for this task so that it can be easier for us to modify later on.
Week 2 (05/09/2023)
Ms. Hayati gave us another lecture about Literature Review. It's the same as critical thinking process from the DRM module but it's more complicated. She gave us some tips and let us reread the 5 article we picked in earlier semester for DRM module and summarize it.
Week 3 (12/09/2023)
Ms. Hayati gave us another lecture and tips as this time it's about Methodology. As usual, we have some tutorial session where we all share our progress on Task 1 to Ms. Hayati and receive some feedbacks. With this feedbacks, we can do some changes on our work to make it more better.
Week 4 (19/09/2023)
In this week, Ms. Hayati gave us some lectures on Findings & Discussion. It's a lecture for this week and Week 5. We were given some tips and tricks on how to write one so that we won't be confused.
Week 6 (03/10/2023)
In our 6th week, we had our final lecture for Task 1 which is about writing an Abstract for our research. The deadline for our Task 1 is Week 7, so in total we spent 7 weeks in writing and refining our draft for our second task.
Week 7 (10/10/2023)
In the 7th week, Ms. Hayati briefed us on our second part of task 2, which is "Task 2: Visual Design Publication". As the name of the task said, we were to make an actual e-book for our research. This book should contain every data that we had in our draft as we will also be designing the book using software such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. The timeframe for this task will be until Week 12.
Week 11 (07/11/2023)
We had a briefing on our final task which is "Task 4 - Journal Publication". In this task, we are to write a draft for our article about our research using the template that has been given by Ms. Hayati.
INSTRUCTIONS

Task 1 - Draft Dissertation
So for the first week there's nothing really interesting since we only need to copy paste our research from DRM module. Ms. Hayati gave us a template on the draft dissertation so we can just copy paste the parts from our DRM module to the template. I also did the Literature Review Matrix in a spreadsheet to list everything about the 5 articles I have reviewed from DRM module.
Fig 1.1 Literature Review Matrix (Week 1, 29/08/2023)
After we're done with the literature review matrix, we summarize, relate, cite some of the articles to our research.

Task 2 - Visual Design
In this task, I compiled some references and inspiration first for my research book design. I compiled them in Miro board since it's easier that way and I can compile many images. Ms. Hayati also gave me some inspiration by recommending me to some artists and designer on their work as it did inspired me in a way.

Fig 2.2 Cover design first concept (Week 10, 31/10/2023)
My take in this cover is to make it look futuristic by adding the hexagon shape at the background and adding mechanical hand to represent A.I in general. Mr. Hayati doesn't get the idea in this concept so I am forced to change it to her liking.
Instead of focusing much on the cover design, I decided to copy paste the draft into the design first and adding some assets to it since it's the main thing on the research and think of the cover for later.
Fig 2.3 Designing process (Week 10, 03/11/2023)
When I first show Ms. Hayati my design, she told me that it's too plain and need to give some shock vibe to it. Instead of using fully black background, she told me that I should add some white color to it to make it not plain, so I follow her advice.
Fig 2.4 Designing process based on her feedback (Week 11, 07/11/2023)
The image I used in this book are AI-made to add some examples on what AI are capable to do in making art. The pictures are free and there's no need for it to be add figure.
Now that I have finished the main research, my final task for this task is to design the cover. Instead for going for an illustration style of cover, I used a typographic style by playing with some layouts.
Fig 2.5 First concept for cover (Week 10, 03/11/2023)
In this take, I used the bilateral layout where the text are all aligned in the middle and in one line. Ms. Hayati told me that I could explore more layouts as it looks plain. Though it's balanced and shows some hierarchy, she told me that I could explore more and so I did.

She approved this design so I was relieved. Now that I have done my e-book design, Ms. Hayati told me to make an flipping e-book of it with the help of https://fliphtml5.com. This website turns your PDF file into an actual working flipping book.

Task 3 - Final Dissertation
This task is basically just a wrap up of our Task 1. We were told to refine our draft and paraphrase some sentences since we are to submit our draft into TURNITIN. This submission will scan our draft to check it's plagiarism and it's AI-written percentage. When I submitted my draft, I was told that my draft were 15% AI-written. At first I was confused, but Ms. Hayati showed me which part was scanned and that's when I realized that some of them are scanned on the question and majority of them are from the Methodology part that I copy pasted from DRM module (although I did some paraphrase already).
Fig 3.1 - 3.18 AI-Written Check (Week 13, 21/11/2023)
After the explanation Ms. Hayati gave me, she gave me a second chance to submit my final for the second time as she told me to paraphrase the final dissertation again. I did what she told me as I tried my best to write and paraphrase it over and over to make sure it won't get detected by the system. After submitting it for the second time, the result finally reduced into 6% of AI-written which is a big improvement.

Task 4 - Journal Publication
In our final task, we are to make a draft for our article about our research. Ms. Hayati told us to follow the KREATE template that she sent in the Classroom so I did what she told. She also told us that the information in the article should be different from our research.
When making the title of the research, Ms. Hayati gave me three options of variation for my original title and I picked the third option she gave.

She told me that I need to rephrase some sentences on some parts so I did what she told me to do.

REFLECTION
Overall, my full experience in this advanced writing module is frustrating and hellish. Not only I need to focus on drawing for other modules that I am taking, but I also need to write and design which makes my schedule and work kind of inconsistent. At first, I was very stressful and anxious that I felt depressed for 3 weeks in thinking of my path. I tried to not think of that so I set them aside and continue to force my body on working and working. I isolate myself from my social circle and have become extremely introvert to boost myself on focusing my modules more than socializing. Even though Ms. Hayati cared our mental and physical wellbeing, I simply don't go to the counsellor available in university because I thought I have no need for it.
The only thing that is important in this module is that you need extreme skill for time management. Do not procrastinate for too long, or you'll miss a lot of things and have a messed up working schedule. If you have skills and enjoy writing so much, then this module might be for you. For me? This is not a module for me, as I only did this module only because it's required. The only reason I am still alive in this module is that because I keep coping and drinking energy drinks to make myself stay awake while working. Some people might find that having a break time is a good thing but for me, it's the opposite. I would rather isolate myself working rather than wasting my precious time with friends even though it's good to have them. Sadly, I only have 2 true friends but they both have their own circle to hang out with.
I apologize if I bring personal things in this blog, I just need to vent it out. Anyway, the overall of this module is the okayish. It has the same experience when I did my Design Research Methodology module back in Semester 2, except it's more frustrating and depressing. In the end, I managed to live, and that's what matters.
