LECTURES

Week 5 (28/09/2022)
There's no illustration class in this week, however there is consultation hour with Ms. Anis and Mr. Hafiz regarding for the competition for those who need suggestion. Ms. Anis also gave lectures about visual and narrative shots. Perhaps it's a briefing related for future classes.

Week 4 (21/9/2022)
We have an introduction on a tool called the Shape Builder Tool. This tool can help us making custom shapes by combining multiple of shapes.

Week 3 (14/9/2022)
Mr. Hafiz make an introduction on some tools like the Blending tool and the Pathfinders. Briefing on the second assignment, the deadline for this assignment is week 5. We have to make a digital triptych and may choose the theme which is Renewal of Life and Cultural Celebration. If we finished this assignment, we also have to submit this to a competition.

INSTRUCTION

Task 2 : Digital Triptych
In this task, we were instructed to make 3 artwork in Illustrator, it should be submitted in .png, 300 dpiand 1200 x 1200 pixel for each work. It should be submitted in Google Classroom that Mr. Hafiz has published. There's also a theme given and we can only choose 1, it's either Renewal of Life or Cultural Celebration. Personally I choose Renewal of Life because it seems a piece of cake than Cultural Celebration.
  • Visual Research and Process
Part 1: Triptych
I did some brainstorming and exploring ideas in Pinterest. I have decided that I want to make a dragon. The story is that this dragon is dead in the Viking Era. Before the dragon died, it managed to lay one egg to atleast continue it's bloodline by finding another mate. This egg is still in incubation and it's incubating in a cave where it's really hot. It's a matter of time until the egg hatches...

Part 2: HONOR Competition
I also prepared this for the HONOR compotetion. Mr. Hafiz gave the template for the submission and here's what it looks like.

I also asked Mr. Hafiz and Ms. Anis for some suggestion. Ms. Anis suggested that perhaps the background could be more brighter which I already fixed it. Mr Hafiz suggested that for the left skull may be good if I make it assymetrical with the right skull.
Fig 2.2 Final result
Ar first, I was worried when Mr. Hafiz said make it assymetrical because I thought like it would ruin the work. Well, I am really surprised it worked well and somehow looks better than before. Without further ado, I decided to submit this work to the competition and pray myself so I can get the reward even if its a little. Here is some extra open design I made using the triptych I have made.

FEEDBACKS

Week 5 (28/09/2022)
Ms. Anis   : you can make the background more brighter so the contrast to the egg can be appealing
Mr. Hafiz  : try to make one of the skull assymetrical with the other

REFLECTION

Not gonna lie, I thought I can't do this assignment because it has to be work in Adobe Illustrator. I have no experience on drawing a real artwork in Illustrator so at first I'm kinda anxious and overthinks a lot. "Can I do this task?" "Can I really do this for the competition?" that's what I thought when this assignment was announced. Well, I tried my best draw in Illustrator by using the basic tool like Pen tool and the Gradient tool. After a while on making it, I'm surprised I was able to do it. It's a good experience to draw in Illustrator.
