- Sketches
Fig 2.1 Sketch #1 (17/10/2022, Week 8)
Fig 2.2 Sketch #2 (17/10/2022, Week 8)
For explanation, I made sketch #1 based on like a shard of diamond and as for sketch #2 it's based on my style of making things look cool and elegant. Sketch #1 give more simplistic vibe while sketch #2 gave that 90s vibe. I like sketch #2 more so I decided to go with that one. After hearing some words from my friends. I think I need to make more sketches so I decided to make like 7 sketches instead of only 2.
Fig 2.3 More sketches idea (24/10/2022, Week 9)
After doing this sketches, I think I kinda change my mind on using the second sketch idea (Fig 2.2). I kind of like Sketch #6 in Fig 2.3 so I think I'll go with this one.- Digitizing and Creating Actual Typeface
I use ITC Garamond Std as my reference and I started to deconstruct letter k, r, and p. I somehow messed up in the beginning to deconstruct it. I tried deconstruct it using the direct selection tool and I guess it works.
Fig 3.1 My attempt on deconstruct (23/10/2022, Week 8)
Move that aside, I decided to just start on designing the font I have created in Illustrator using the rectangle tool, direct move tool, and the shape builder tool.Fig 3.2 Font design I have made based on Fig 2.2 (22/10/2022, Week 8)
After seeing one of my friends work and one of them joined the Zoom meeting at Monday in Week 9. I trembled when I heard their sketches are being denied and coincidentally one of the sketch is almost similar to Fig 3.2. I did not hesitate and make another sketch idea and I'm gonna use Sketch #6 in Fig 2.4.

Fig 3.5 Poster I've made for testing the font (27/10/2022, Week 9)
After receiving feedbacks from Mr. Vinod, I got every information on what I need to do now. I need to make few modification on some glyphs like r and e. Overall, he said that the font I made is pretty interesting. As for the making the glyphs into actual usable font, I need to make it in Fontlab instead of Calligraphr since when I asked Mr. Vinod about it, he said that we need to use Fontlab. For the poster we were asked to make a black and white simple poster with the sentence "Make Type Great Again!".

Font Information:
x-height : 500pt
Ascender : 734pt
Descender : -230pt
Cap height : 697pt
Underline : -240pt
I fixed the comma symbol according to the guide that I read from the resource that is given by Mr. Vinod
Fig 3.10 2nd attempt of modification (31/10/2022, Week 10)
After I am done with some modification, I started making my poster with my font that I designed.
Fig 3.12 1st attempt on making the poster (07/11/2022, Week 11)
I asked Mr. Vinod for some feedbacks for my poster in hoping that it could help me. He said that the poster itself is too busy and told me to remove the top and bottom part of the poster. According to the feedback, it seems that we just need to make a simple poster design so I did just like what Mr. Vinod asked.
I rearranged the composition for my poster to fill in the spaces that is available and I have decided to use this as my final submission.

FEEDBACK
Week 11 (07/11/2022)
The typeface is consistent. As for some of the glyphs like 't', Mr. Vinod said that it doesn't need to reach the ascender. Personally when I tried to make it not reach the ascender it looks weird so I just removed the stroke that is on the left side of the 't'. For the 'k' the upper stroke is not as thick as the stem so I need to adjust it. Lastly for the dots part like from the 'i', '!', and '.', Mr. Vinod said that it needs to be the same size.
Week 10 (31/10/2022)
Mr. Vinod said that the glyphs I designed is pretty interesting, it just need some modification on some of the letterforms. He also said that I need to fix some of the punctuation.

REFLECTION
Experience
I felt anxious when I tried making my own font. When I heard that one of my friends work got denied even it looks good I started to panic and really didn't know what to do. I tried remain as calm as I could and try to keep calm while I make another sketches for this task. The fact that I didn't attend the class twice makes me feel empty like there's no one instructing me an order. I'm glad that I managed to finish this task although I have a feeling Mr. Vinod wouldn't like it.
Observation
Whenever I tried to copy and paste the font I have made to Calligraphr, I always need to resize the font to the given shape they given which consume me much time. Even so, I managed to do it although not as smooth as it should be since I always instinctly get out of Illustrator for no reason.
Findings
I found that by doing this task, we can make font by ourselves for daily uses and it may be used publicly. But to be honest if I were a designer who sells typefaces I don't think I can get much.

I read this book from page 31-45 hoping that it could help me doing this task. I didn't know that making letterform also need proportion which is explained in page 34. I found some typefaces look elegant like the Old Style.
