Project 1 : Instructable Poster
Part 1 : Infographic Poster
Fig 1.1 Pasta Grannies video about Maria's Lasagna
In this project, we are assigned to make an infographic poster about one of the recipes that is featured in Pasta Grannies youtube channel. The recipe I chose for this project is Maria's Lasagna because I like lasagnas :D.
Fig 1.2 Maria's Lasagna recipe breakdown (Week 4, 03/02/2023)
I typed down some of the information that is important in the youtube video then chunk it into some parts. After typing them down, I start doing some sketches... without any references (it didn't go well).
Fig 1.3 First sketch (Week 4, 03/02/2023)
Mr. Hafiz said that this sketch is an improvement from the previous one. He also suggest me to put some icons and more illustration in this sketch.
Fig 1.5 Poster arrangement no.1 (Week 6, 17/02/2023)
From this poster, Mr. Hafiz said that the illustration is too small and the text are too long and small. He suggested for me to chunk the text into smaller bits and emphasize the important part. The spaces in this poster can be utilized as well. At this point, I decided to look at references to help me make this poster.

Fig 1.7 Reference no. 2
After looking some references I decided to make something like Fig 1.6. I start making the text layout like Fig 1.6 in Adobe InDesign.

Fig 1.9 Final Result (Week 6, 17/02/2023)
This time Mr. Hafiz like the idea but he told me that the text size is light and the information is a lot. Still in the end, this poster will be my final submission. I forgot to mention that I made this illustration in ibisPaint X.

Part 2 : Animated Infographic Poster
Now that I have done with the poster, it's time to make the animation part. First I make some layout on how it will be shown in the animation. The animation maximum duration is 60 seconds so I tried to chunk some part of the poster into a layout.
Fig 2.1 Layout for animation (Week 6, 18/02/2023)
Fig 2.3 Result for animation (Week 7, 21/02/2023)
After showing this animation to Mr. Martin, he said that this animation need a little bit of refination. So I refined a bit of stuff inside and also change the song into something more cooler. I also draw my own emoji based on what I used earlier in Fig 2.3.

FEEDBACKS
Week 4
- The sketch is very sketchy thus it's hard to be given a feedback, add more details to it and perhaps more icons and illustration. (Fig 1.3)
- Give more details to sketch no.2 and perhaps arrange more effectively (Fig 1.4)
Week 6
- The illustration is too small and the type is small and compact. Try to chunk the information into smaller bits and emphasize important information. Resize the illustration too if possible (Fig 1.5)
- Text is kind of light (Fig 1.9)
Week 7
- The emoji can be change to my own artstyle
- For the text instead of showing all at once, show it one by one
- Make some illustration for the "making the lasagna" part
- Try to extend the duration for the step-by-step part
REFLECTION
From this project, I learnt that arrangment of composition is important to make a visual appealing infographic. To be honest it's hard for me to enjoy doing this project because almost everything is rushed out since the whole of week 5 I had a study trip which eliminate the time to make this project. A side of that, I'm still glad that I am able to finish this project. The exercises I did in class also helpful in making this project which saves a lot of time when doing this project.
