FINAL PROJECT - STOP MOTION
Part 1 : Idea and Concept
In this part of the project, Mr. Martin told us to pick either 2 path for our stop motion production. It's either based on a theme which is "Mental Illness" or we proposed our own idea to Mr. Martin. In this scenario, of course I picked to propose my own idea. Mr. Martin said that this stop motion need to be done by group of 2 but I refuse and decided to do this stop motion alone because I don't like working in a group as I found it annoying.
Fig 2.1 Proposal of Idea (Week 9, 30/05/2023)
In this proposal, I proposed on making a stop motion of 2 Gundam duel each other. Each Gundam will fight with something they desire, such as money, honor, at stake. The winner will be determined by who's the first to break the opponent's blade antenna or until the opponent isn't able to continue to battle.
In the end, I used RX-0 Unicorn Gundam and RX-0[N] Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee Norn to fight with each other. There is of course some third party member in this stop motion which I'll show it in the second part.
Part 2 : Production Shooting
In this part, I used Week 10 - Week 13 to fully focus on making the stop-motion. Unlike my other classmate who uses 8 frames per second, I used 20 frames per second instead to make my Gundam battling each other smoothly (although in the end it's not).

After I have decided the plot, I start recording the stop-motion in the Photo Studio at Taylor's University which is at E1.01. I booked for a total of 3 times to use this studio to record my stop-motion.

I did some raw recording on the stop-motion but it seems that the file is corrupted and I can't show it in here. So here's some footage I have when I record my full stop-motion. In this stop motion, there is some sacrifices that needs to happen such as the arm of my Gundam suddenly snapped :)

In this stop motion I aim to make it like cinematic which is why in one scene there is a black bar on the top and bottom. Mr. Martin said that the stop-motion is good but there is no need to put the introduction part of the stop-motion. He also told me to color correct the duel scene and here is the final result.

REFLECTION
If I were to rate this project, it's a straight up 11/10. I love making this project and I mean it. It's been a long time since I wanted to make my first stop-motion and luckily I stumbled upon this project. I enjoy doing this project alone since I have no need to worry everyone else except me. I can focus at myself and I am very happy with it. I discovered that color grading and correcting certain scene would make the scene better as if we are immersed into the scene and can feel the tension. Sound effect is also important in order to make a good stop motion. Overall, this module is fun and I am grateful that I stumbled upon this module.
