EXERCISES

Week 1 Exercise : Assembling Footage

In our first week of this module, Mr. Martin gave us some briefing on what will we learn in this module. Our first exercise in this module is to assembly video clips that has been prepared by Mr. Martin in the Google Drive in Adobe Premiere Pro. We were needed to assemble 2 videos in total and here is my progress.

Fig 1.3 Assembling video no.1 (Week 1, 04/04/2023)

Assembling video no.1 is easy because it has been helped by Mr. Martin by giving numerical order in every end of the file name. When I start to start assembling video no.2, turns out I need to check every video parts by myself because when I assemble it in numerical order the video doesn't match. I search for the original video on Youtube and use the video to help me assemble every part in its correct pattern.

Week 2 Exercise : Framing and Shooting

We were assigned to a group of two and we're tasked to shoot ourself with the help of our teammate in a specific frame. In this case, my teammate did my frame so poorly that it makes me wanted to re-record it but I know it's too late to do so. So here's some video of the shooting session with some bad angle shooting.

Did I like the result? No. Is it really bad? Real ba- no its worst. Do I want to redo it? YES! This recording is an absolute dissapointment for me and I have never felt this dissapointed. So this time I re-record, but instead of me being the subject I'll use my Gundam Plastic Model as the subject. Vincent Lee, you had ONE job.

Week 3 Exercise : 3 Act story structure

We were tasked to watch a video and determine their act story structure. In this case, Mr. Martin gave us 2 videos to watch and observe then we need to write down which part is climax and etc.

Week 4 Exercise : Color Correction and Color Grading

In today's exercise, we were tasked to do a little research on color correction and color grading in ChatGPT then compare the answer it gave with Google. Both platform gave different answers so I'll summarize both answer below this paragraph.
  • Color Correction = process of adjusting colors in a video to make them consistent. (like adjusting brightness, contrast, etc.)
  • Color Grading = process of enhancing a video to a desired mood.
The difference between this two processes is that color correcting only adjust the colors of the video while color grading adjust the style/visual mood of the video. Are they necessary? Well, to answer that, color correction are necessary to do in editing videos while color grading are not necessary. If you wanted to make a good style in a video then you should do color grading in the editing process.

After we're done with our little research, our next exercise/tutorial is to color correct and grade a footage that Mr. Martin gave.
