Final Project - Polishing and Dynamic Postures with Props

In our final project, our task is to polish our Project 2 and add slight details if needed and render it. We are also to pose our character in any way we want as long as it suits the character's vibe. Below are the breakdown list on what to have achieve in this project:
  • Collective shots rendered to show components in detail
  • Final render to be polished and presented on a portrait sized image. Printable high res
  • Final poster with appealing layout
  • Baked texture sheet
  • Projection to low poly
  • Character Turntable

i) Character Pose

Fig 1.1 Rigging character using ZPlugin Transpose (Week 13, 24/11/2023)

To be honest, it's kind of frustrating when I want to pose my character because of the amounts of polycount it has. It's so laggy that I decided to take 30 minutes break and work on it again carefully. In the end, I could only do some basic pose for the character and here is the result.

Fig 1.3 Character with Background (Week 13, 24/11/2023)

I used the ZSphere method of posing so it took me a while on posing it because how laggy it is. Mr. Kanaan told me that I should explore on more colors for the character instead of using mono color. He told me that I should give some contrast/complementary color too so I decided to use his tips and go to https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel for finding the best match of my color. He also told me that I don't need to add backgrounds as it's not necessary in ZBrush.

While recoloring my character, I also did some light testing so that the render would be good for my character.

While I recolor, I also did some refinement on the character itself by giving more details on the base. In the end, the result is better without any color.

ii) Poster

After we're done with out final pose, now it's our time to render it and turn it into a poster.

Fig 1.14 Work in Progress (Week 14, 02/12/2023)

I decided to use some blending modes and play with Photoshop abit. I tried to make the character look menacing as if he just got out from it's origin.

Fig 2.1 Draft Poster (Week 14, 02/12/2023)

I decided to adjust some parts and make it dark and glow at the same time. I also added some frame to make it more interesting.

FEEDBACKS

    Week 13 (22/11/2023)
  • Adjust the color abit
  • Volume
    Week 14 (29/11/2023)
  • Change/Recolor some parts to make it contrasting

REFLECTION

Overall, this project is kind of fun. The only thing that irritates me is in the rigging process where it's so laggy that it makes me frustrated to pose my character. In the end, I did add more color on my character because how Mr. Kanaan always told me in every feedback session from Project 2 to the Final Project. This module is stressing, yes, but as long as I am still alive, it doesn't matter. I do hope I can do better in the next semester especially in managing my time schedule.
