Final Project - Post Production and Profiling

This project is divided into two parts. One is to 3D sculpt our vehicle (can be either the exterior or interior) while the other one is to showcase our designs. The profile should include:
  • Color studies
  • Textures
  • Key art
  • Props breakdown
  • Orthographic

i) Post Production

In our 3D Sculpting progress, Mr. Kanaan told us that it's best to 3D sculpt it in Blender since it's easier to sculpt some surfaces using Blender. Although ZBrush is viable, I chose to use Blender since I am curious how it feels like.

At first, I am overwhelmed because the shortcuts and everything are different from ZBrush. I had some struggles but I managed to make a rough blockout of the vehicle.

I had some transition in working since I also need to finish my project 2 in this timeframe. In time, I managed to catch up again in doing the sculpting which is Week 15 unfortunately. Although this time it's different, I have learnt the shortcuts I need to know and with the help of  Youtube, I can finally finish sculpting it.

After finishing the sculpt, it's time for me to make the turntable of it which is the front, rear, side, and top view of the vehicle itself.

I also did the orthographic version of the 3D vehicle which makes the vehicle longer since it's based on a perspective.

ii) Profiling

In this final part of the project, we need to showcase our vehicle designs from Pre-Production to Post-Production. We also use this time to polish our Project 1 and Project 2 which I did.

I added some decals and part/color seperation on the vehicle to looks more detailed. There are also some overlapping compartments at the missile launcher (which is the two arms of the tank).

FEEDBACKS

Week 11 (09/11/2023)
  • The blockout is there, you can go for further developments on the blockouts
Week 15 (08/12/2023)
  • The polished Project 1 looks nice, just need some square at the background to showcase it later
  • The polished Project 2 ceiling looks flat
  • The 3D sculpt can be better

REFLECTION

Lately, final project have treat me like shit. I guess I deserved it because of my poor time management. At least I learnt some basics on Blender which is a good thing when I did this project. Overall, I would recommend to not use Blender for beginner since it's not beginner friendly (trust me, if you want to use Blender, you need to learn some tutorials). I got lucky I managed  to do my project because I watch some tutorials in Youtube. Overall, my experience in this module is chaotic which has the same vibe as Anatomy module. As for the Youtube tutorial, I used the video below as it helps me a lot when I did this project.
