Task 1: Empathy Map & Problem Statement
Week 1 (23/04/2024 - 29/04/2024)
In this week, we divided ourselves into 3 groups. Mrs. Lilian had some time to adjust and balance our groups and I am in the Hungry Step Family (name of the group suggested by Adifa).
Hungry Step Family Group :
- Adifa Putri Harisyam | 0358362
- Derin | 0354969 (Group Leader)
- Glen Owen | 0354952
- Konomi Hoshikawa | 0356929
- Takuto Hozumi | 0354047
Our first task in this module is to create an empathy map with our client by interviewing. We also need to create a set of questionnaire that could help us in defining the problem statement. We need to make sure to understand our target audience as it is crucial for our product that we will make further tasks.
Week 2 (30/04/2024 - 06/05/2024)
Our group are divided into two as each will do one task. The tasks are making questionnaire and dissecting the pitch video that our client sent for us.
Fig 2.1 Pitch Video
From the pitch video that our client sent, it's clear that it's an advertisement for their app. In order to further understand what the client express from this ads, I have dissected each statements to let my groupmates understand what it's saying.

I highlighted the parts into different colors so that it's easier to break it down and explain it down here:
- Red : Company name
- Orange : Introduction and Pain Point (The ads identifies common pain points for both homeowners and contractors in the process of finding each other)
- Yellow : Value Proposition (Assurance that the company can address the struggles mentioned earlier)
- Green : Services Provided (These points outline the benefit of using the service, such as ease of use, transparency, and efficiency in connecting contractors with homeowners)
- Blue : Features Provided (These features provide additional details on how the platform operates, including community engagement, transparency in pricing and reviews, and algorithmic matching for better connections)
- Indigo : SDG Goals (The ads highlights the company's alignment with Sustainable Development Goals, indicating its commitment to social and environmental responsibility)
- Purple : Call to Action (Encouragement for potential users to take action and utilize the service to improve their lifestyle)
In 2nd May, we had our first meeting with our client. It's a long meeting as it takes more than hour. We asked questions to the client so that we can further understand them and make sure that we can empathize with them as well as it's very crucial in this task.
After getting everything that we need from the meeting, we start making our project document and empathy map with the whole group member as we did it together. We create our presentation slide as well as we need to present it to Mrs. Lilian on what we have gathered for this task in Week 3. We also gathered enough data from our questionnaire as it also helped us in creating an empathy map for our consumer.

Week 3 (07/05/2024 - 13/04/2024)
This is the final week for our first task as we need to present it to Mrs. Lilian. She told us that the presentation slide somehow lack of something but the idea is there. She said that we are good to go and we need to show her our clear art direction by the next week as we are about to begin our Task 2.

FEEDBACKS
Week 3 (07/05/2024)
- The analysis of the slides are well built
- Remember that the submission will involved two slides, one if the analysis presentation and the other is the project document.
REFLECTION
If I can be honest, this task felt overwhelming for me as it's the first time that we had to deal with a client. It feels thrilling that I often get nervous. The fact that it's another group project is something that I can hardly contribute to be honest because whenever I wanted to do something, it's already had been done by someone else. The task also involves some design thinking which is fairly new to me, so I have no idea what's going on at first.
The moment I heard that the final outcome would be an app design is a bit surprising for me as I thought to myself that I would never touch UI/UX again but it did. Gladly enough we only had to design it and not code it like in the past semester (Semester 2). I looked at some senior's work to know more and expect what to do in this module so it could ease me a bit (while in the end, it's not).
When we had our first interview with our clients, I have no single clue on what's going on. Luckily, I have my groupmates that could explain it in a simpler way to me so I would like to thank them for the effort. Although I felt like I didn't contribute enough in this task, I would like to do more in the future task.
